Latke'
Not Kosher for Passover
**Not kosher.**
Latkes are traditionally made with potatoes, flour (chametz), and sometimes breadcrumbs, all of which are leavened grains forbidden during Passover. Potato latkes can be adapted to be kosher for Passover by substituting matzo meal or potato starch for flour, but "Latke'" itself (as a standard Ashkenazi potato pancake) is not inherently kosher for the holiday without such modifications.
What is Kosher for Passover?
Foods that are kosher for Passover are foods that do not contain chametz or chametz residues.
What is Chametz?
Chametz is any food containing one of the five grains (wheat, barley, rye, oats, spelt) that has leavened.
